  7. INSTALLATION
  8.  
  9. To install Rage of Mages, double click on RomDemo.exe in this folder.
  10. Type in the directory where you would like to install ROM, for example C:\ROMDEMO
  11. Click on the "Extract" button.
  12. The Rage of Mages Demo will be installed on your hard disk.
  13. To run the demo, click on the Windows "Start" menu button, and click "Run"
  14. Type the full directory path and the program name (ROM.EXE)

  16. For example, if you installed in C:\ROMDEMO, you would enter C:\ROMDEMO\ROM.EXE

  21. STARTING THE DEMO
  22.  
  23. To start a game, click on "New Game" from the Amulet on the main screen.
  24.  
  25. To move your characters, select them by clicking the left mouse button and then click with the left mouse button to where you want to go. When the cursor moves across the Battle Screen, it will change according to what object it's pointing at.

  27. The main commands are:
  28. Go (the cursor is pointing at a vacant terrain point)
  29. Attack (the cursor is pointing at the target)
  30. Pick up (the cursor is pointing at an item)
  31. Use (the cursor is pointing at an item to be picked up or a building to be entered)

  33. You can left click and drag a rectangle across multiple characters to select a group of them.

  35. If there is a magic user in the party, he or she can open the Spellbook by pressing the button in the left upper corner or by pressing "B" or "Q" on the keyboard. The Spellbook contains all of the spells availibable for that mage.

  37. You can open the Backpack panel by pressing the button in the lower left corner of the Info Window or by pressing "I" (Inventory) or "~" You can drag and drop items into and out of your backpack.

  39. The Minimap in the upper right hand corner of your screen is a map which covers the whole mission area. Your location on the Battle Screen is outlined by a white rectangle on the minimap.

  45. You can delete the Rage of Mages demo by deleting the directory where it is installed.
  46. Deleting directories can be accomplished using Explorer.

  50. TROUBLESHOOTING
  51.  
  52. Because ROM is a DirectX game, it requires DirectX5 or greater
  53. to run.  Because DirectX is very dependent on your video drivers,
  54. please be sure to check with your video card manufacturer for the latest
  55. DirectX certified drivers before contacting technical support.
